この写真は太陽がまだ水平線の低い位置にあるときに撮りました。シャッタースピード1/1000秒、f値8、焦点距離600mm、露出はマイナス補正です。
I took this backlit picture when the sun was low on the horizon, using a shutter speed of 1/1000 sec at f/8, the focal length of 600mm, and negative exposure compensation.
フォーカスとシャッターのタイミングが少しムズいです。ピントは、ユリカモメが太陽の光で見えなくなる直前にシャッター半押しでフォーカスロックし、ちょうど良い位置にきたと思ったタイミングで全押しです。
Focusing and timing the shutter was a bit tricky. I focused on the black-headed gull just before it disappeared in the sun’s glare, pressing the shutter halfway down (focus lock) to follow the bird, and then fully pressing the shutter at the moment I thought the bird was in the right position.
フォーカスロックがうまく機能したのは、ユリカモメが横方向に移動していたのでユリカモメとカメラの間の距離が変わらなかったからです。
The focus lock was effective because the bird was moving parallel to me, meaning the distance between the bird and the camera remained constant.

以前書きましたが鳥さん、特に水鳥が好きです。川の近くに住んでいて川沿いをよく散策してました。そこにはサギやカモなどの水鳥がいます。
As I mentioned previously, I have always loved bird watching, especially water birds. I lived near a river and would often take strolls along the riverside. There, I would see waterbirds such as herons, egrets, and wild ducks.

最初はただ眺めるだけで満足してましたが、前に投稿したアヒルを見つけたときに、その可愛さを写真に撮りたくなりました。そこから水鳥を撮り始めました。
Initially, I was content with just observing them. However, when I spotted a white domestic duck in the river, which I mentioned in a previous post, I felt compelled to capture its cuteness. That was the moment I began photographing water birds.
川沿いの散策が日課になり、望遠レンズ一体型のデジカメを持ってよく出かけました。このカメラは焦点距離が長いわりに小さくて軽く、持ち歩いていても苦になりませんでした。
Taking walks along the river became a part of my daily routine. I frequently carried a long-zoom bridge camera with me. Despite its long focal length, it was compact and lightweight, making it a hassle-free companion on my strolls.

ユリカモメも上のサギと同じようにして餌捕り

ユリカモメはお気に入りの鳥さんです。可愛いし、羽の模様、特に頭にある灰色の斑点が好きです。この頭の灰色の斑点を見ると子供の頃に母が飼っていた鳥を思い出します。その鳥は私が8歳から22歳になるまで13年間生きました。この鳥さんのおかげで鳥好きになりました。
The black-headed gull is one of my favorite birds. They are cute, and I like their feather pattern, especially the gray dots on their heads. This pattern reminds me of a bird my mother kept when I was a child. It lived for thirteen years, from when I was 8 until I was 22. That bird made me a bird lover.

散歩コースに水鳥がいて、カメラを持って出ることが多かったので水鳥のいろんな様子が撮れました。ときどき、近くの海にも飲み物とお菓子などを持って出かけ、ちょっと遠出の散歩という感じで水鳥や海鳥を撮ることもありました。（過去形です、笑）
補足です。フォーカスロックのところで「横方向の移動だから距離は変わらない」というのは、遠方の鳥さん（焦点距離600mm、写真はノートリミング）の1秒未満の間の横移動なので実質的にカメラとの距離は変わらないということです。
