9月下旬ですが、まだ日中は暑いです。そのせいだと思いますが、普段利用する電車の窓のカーテン、すべて下ろされてます。気づいたのは今日だけど、暑さが増した7月か8月にはすでに下ろされてたかもしれません。
It's late September, but it's still very hot during the day. Perhaps that’s why all the curtains of the train I usually use are closed. I noticed this today, but I guess they have been closed since July or August, when the summer heat really intensified.

Closing the curtains probably lowers the temperature inside the cars, saving electricity and reducing the train company’s electricity bill. I'm not sure if the reduced cost is greater than the cost of having station staff close all the curtains, but it’s possible. The train only has two cars, so it doesn't seem like a lot of work.
ここの路線は、インターネットで見た情報によればずっと赤字が続いてます。カーテンをすべて下ろすのはコスト削減努力の一つなんでしょう。

思うに、もうひとつコストを下げる方法が。それはエアコンを少し弱くすること。今のエアコンは効き過ぎです。個人的には構いませんが、寒いと感じてる人がいるかもしれません。もっとも、これでどのくらいコスト削減に貢献するかは不明ですけど。
I think they have one more way to do so: turning down the air conditioning a bit. The air conditioning in the cars is too strong right now. I’m fine with it, but some people might feel cold, so the company could lower the air conditioning setting. I'm not sure though how much this would contribute to cost reduction.
と、そんなことを言っておきながら、ここの路線がどのくらい赤字か調べていたら面白い情報を見つけました。鉄道会社はこの路線の赤字を気にしてないそうです。理由は、この路線は稼ぎの大きい主要路線に接続していて、鉄道会社としては、その主要路線がもっと利益を上げられるよう、この路線にはコストに関わらず主要路線にできるだけ多くの客を運んで欲しいということだそうです。
Well, that being said, I found some interesting information when I looked up how much money this line is losing. It said that the company doesn't mind the loss caused by this line, because this line connects to one of their major train lines, which is very profitable. The company wants this line to bring as many passengers as possible to the major line so that it can make even more profits, regardless of cost.
この情報は公式のものではなく、鉄道ファンのサイトにあったものですが、多かれ少なかれ正しいように思います。

実際、この路線を走っている電車は比較的新しいし、主な駅にはプラットホームと改札を結ぶエレベータがあるし（両者には高低差があるため）、また現在改築中の別の駅にもエレベータが追加されそうです。いずれも、普通なら田舎のこんな赤字路線には考えられないことです。なので、それらはコストに関わらず乗客を増やすためだと思われます。
In fact, the cars running on this line are relatively new. One of the main stations has an elevator connecting the platform and the gate (they're on different levels). And another station now under renovation will also have one! Those things are usually unthinkable for a train line in the red, like this one in the countryside. Those are probably measures to attract more passengers, regardless of cost.
結局のところ、カーテンをすべて下ろすのはそもそもコスト削減のためというより、サービスの一貫なのかもしれません。乗客が自分で下ろす手間が省けるので。
After all, closing all the curtains of the train may not be for cost reduction in the first place, but rather a part of their customer service, which saves passengers the trouble of closing the curtains themselves.
いつもではないですが、今回は話をどう進めてどう終わらせるかを考えて書き始めました。でも、鉄道会社が赤字を気にしないという情報を見つけたことでその予定が変わってしまい、予想外の終わり方になりました（笑）。ある意味、この終わり方のほうが良かったですけどね。
Not always, but this time I started writing in English by thinking about how to progress and how to conclude my piece. But discovering that the train company doesn’t mind this line's losing money changed my plan, leading to an unexpected ending (haha). In a sense, I'm happier with it this way, though.

ここからは、英語学習者の方向けの内容です。
英文全体を通してフォーマル度が統一されているか自信がありません。硬い表現と柔らかい表現とが不自然に混在しているのではないか、ということです。
そんな悩みも、AI（Open AIのChatGPT、MicrosoftのBing、GoogleのBardなど）に、「一般のブログ向けとしてフォーマル度をカジュアル過ぎない程度のカジュアルさに統一して」などとお願いすれば、一応それにそって必要な箇所の修正提案をしてくれます。
ただ、その回答に成る程と思ったり、本当にそうなの？というのがあったり、さらに、できるだけ自分のオリジナル英文を活かしたい、という気持ちがぶつかって、どないするべと悩むことになります。
修正提案の通りにすれば英文はもっとマシ（フォーマル度や表現がより自然な英語）になりますよとAI様がおっしゃいます。このブログの英文におかしいところがあれば（あります、笑）それはAI様がおかしいというより、AI様の言う事をハイハイとブログ主が聞き入れてないからでしょう。たぶん。
でも、マシな英文を書くことが目的ではなく、英作文の練習が目的です。なので、基本は自分のオリジナルを最優先です。それでおかしいところがあれば、それが今の実力ということです。
自分の書いた英文を1年後とかに読み直して、おかしな箇所が見つかりますように。つまり、英語力がついてますように。（と言いつつ、そんなに時間が経ってからでなくても、1時間後、1日後に読み返すと、すごく単純な間違い・改善箇所が見つかりますが、笑）
(1時間後。英語も日本語もすでに一部修正しました。まだ、ありそう、笑笑）
(1日後。また英文修正。新鮮な気持ちで読み直すと、ここはこうだろうという感じで気が付きます。エンドレスです。でも、気がついても、一文全体を書き換えるなど変更が大きくなる場合は直しません。一文全体を直すと、その前後の文も直す必要が出てきたりして...エンドレス、笑）
