This is one of my earliest memories as a kid, but I sometimes wonder if this really happened or if it is just a dream I had later in life.
I had climbed up a tree, on a bright sunny day, with a little girl whose name I still remember. It was early summer, and we were picking some fruit from the tree, shouting in excitement.
Under the tree was a young woman, maybe my mother, looking up at us, saying aloud something I couldn't quite make out.
In this memory, the world was full of light, with everything in sight shining in the sun.

I know there's no need to mention the girl's name here. But anyway, it was Mann-chan, or so I called her that. I saw her for the first time in more than ten years when I visited the place I grew up, a fishing village, for a summer vacation in highschool.
I noticed her across the street near the wharf. She caught my eyes, and I hers. Our eyes met for a brief moment. We didn't exchange a word, but I believe, in that moment, we shared our memory of climbing up a tree together as kids.
